Baseball umpiring presents a tremendous opportunity to participate in the great game of baseball. Umpiring is both challenging and rewarding, and as a bonus, gives you the best view of the game. As a duty of care, Baseball SA must assure anyone officiating in a game of baseball are accredited and equipped with the correct knowledge, skills and abilities. To do this, Baseball SA offers all members a comprehensive training and development program for prospective and existing umpires. These programs enable umpires to follow a career path from Club umpiring duties to the Olympic Games or even a career as a professional umpire in the USA.

This is the entry level accreditation and is aimed at new umpires officiating all junior games to lower senior competition grades. A complete online platform is currently being constructed. For the time being, please click on the links below to undertake the General Principles course or to start a Working With Children Check which are all elements of the Community Umpire Accreditation certificate. Baseball SA's Officiating Officer has developed Australia's only high-performance academy-style compressed training program aimed at taking candidates from any level of accreditation to a standard where opportunities such as officiating at ABL games, World Baseball & Softball Confederation International tournaments and professionally in the MiLB are attainable.
