FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

Welcome to another Baseball SA newsletter, finally in a time that we can now enjoy a little more freedom. This is all due to the amazing work from the entire community, abiding by restrictions and listening to government updates and guideline changes as they occured. Thank you on behalf of the Board and staff at Baseball SA, for your patience and support during this time, it has certainly been much appreciated.

One of our key strategies to address during this difficult time of COVID-19 was to support businesses within our baseball community by promoting them on our social media and website.

If you or someone you know has a business and may have been hit hard by COVID-19, please share these details with us so we can give them a plug and help support them to get back on their feet, as we know it has been a very challenging time for us all, but harder for some.

Thank you,

Sarah Kelly
General Manager - Baseball SA

ESPORTS

Tom Wickens of Henley and Grange Baseball Club became the champion of Baseball SA's inaugural Esports Tournament on Wednesday, and he had to beat Tom Paparella of Southern Districts Baseball Club to do it.

The grand final was a tight match-up, entering the 6th inning (7 inning game) the game was tied 1-1, but Tom Wickens took the lead hitting his second homerun of the games in the bottom of the 6th, which eventually became the winning run and took out the grand final 2-1. Wickens played a perfect tournament, not dropping a single game.

The tournament was very successful, especially being the first ever hosted by Baseball SA. We started with 16 players from several BSA clubs and would like to thank each participant for taking time out of their schedule to help make it such a success.

Our second Esports season is scheduled to start in July and will be bigger and better. We are planning a season type format where participants will play against each other twice, with the top 8 from each conference (depending on number of teams entered) playing off for the championship.

To get involved with the coming season, email your interest to Giang - development@baseballsa.org.au
