2026 Charter Showcase Tournament

Baseball South Australia is thrilled to announce the dates and details for the 2026 Charter Showcase Tournament, the crucial first stage in selecting our official Little League, Junior League, and Senior League Charter Representative Teams.

This five-day event is designed to provide players with an unparalleled development and evaluation opportunity, giving our coaching staff a complete and balanced picture of each athlete’s skills, growth, and game awareness.

A Comprehensive Development and Evaluation Event

The Showcase is coached by the appointed Charter coaching staff for Little, Junior, and Senior League, supported by Baseball SA Performance Pathways coaches. This unique structure ensures:

  • Fairer Evaluation: Multiple days of game play allow for a stronger, fairer evaluation process.

  • Complete Player Picture: Each player participates in both controlled data-testing sessions and live game play.

  • High-Level Exposure: Players are exposed to new teammates, coaching voices, and a higher level of baseball than regular club play.

  • Meaningful Data: Players receive in-depth performance data and personalised coaching notes to aid their development.

Selection Evaluations will be based on:

  1. Data testing results

  2. In-game performance

  3. Coach observations (skill set, baseball IQ, effort, and attitude)

Team Structure Note: Players will be assigned to Showcase teams for the week (these may not reflect final Charter regions). All players will receive meaningful playing time, as winning games will not be the primary focus of the tournament.

Eligibility for 2026 Charter Teams

To be eligible for the Showcase, players must meet the following birthdate requirements:

  • LITTLE LEAGUE: Born 1st September 2013 – 31st August 2017

  • JUNIOR LEAGUE: Born 1st September 2011 – 31st August 2013

  • INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE AGE: Born 1st September 2012 – 31st August 2015

  • SENIOR LEAGUE: Born 1st September 2009 – 31st August 2011

Selected Charter Teams will compete at the State Championships in April, with winners advancing to the Charter National Championships later in the year.

COACHING EOIs NOW OPEN

Baseball South Australia is excited to announce that Expressions of Interest are now open for coaching positions for the 2026 Charter Representative Teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for coaches to be part of the development of the next generation of talented athletes across the Little League (Boys, Girls, and Development), Intermediate League, Junior League, and Senior League teams.

Coaches will play a vital role in:

  • Leading teams during the Charter Showcase Tournament in January

  • Organising and executing training programs to prepare teams for the State Tournament (17–20 April 2026) and, if successful, the National Tournament in May or June 2026

  • Actively participating in off-season programs to assess and develop athletes

We are looking for coaches who embody the following qualities:

  • S – Skilled: Experienced in baseball coaching with strong knowledge of strategy, able to translate understanding into effective development sessions and in-game decision making.

  • T – Team-Oriented: Collaborative, communicative, and focused on shared goals with staff and support personnel.

  • R – Reliable: Available and dependable, participating in all preparation activities, training sessions, and tournaments.

  • I – Invested: Player-focused, committed to skill development and supporting individual growth.

  • V – Vision-Driven: Passionate about fostering a positive, forward-thinking team culture with sustainable success.

  • E – Eager to Grow: Open to feedback, reflective practice, and coaching development opportunities.

Applicants should ideally have relevant coaching accreditation (or be willing to obtain), experience working with junior athletes, strong communication and leadership skills, and a well-developed understanding of baseball skills and strategy.
