2027 Summer Baseball Series

In 2027, Baseball SA is proud to launch the new Summer Baseball Series. Following the success of the 2026 Charter Showcase Tournament, Baseball SA has decided to rebrand and expand the concept to cover two full weeks of the school holidays for kids from the age of 9 (Little League) all the way through to 16 (Senior League). Whilst the series will coincide with the trials for the charter representative teams, this series of games is available for athletes of all levels, not just those who wish to trial for the charter teams.

As part of the series, children will be run through a day of data collection, including throwing and hitting velocity, running times and fielding and hitting evaluations, as well as 9 days of games being coached by the 2027 charter team coaches. Whilst the data and in-game evaluations will be used by coaches for charter team selection, the main priority of the series is to have our kids play more baseball than previously available to them at this time of year and experience playing and learning from new teammates and coaches, as well as get the chance to play different positions that they may not normally get to. Not only will participants walk away with a fantastic experience from 2 weeks of baseball and all the data and evaluations from the week, but they will also receive a Summer Baseball Series 2027 hat for free.

Why this format adds real value for players and families?

Whilst not the aim of the series, the Summer Baseball Series does help the kids who are trialling for the charter teams, as instead of a single trial or short selection session, players have several days to show their skills, adapt, learn, and demonstrate how they respond to game situations. Coaches get a far better understanding of each athlete’s strengths, baseball IQ, effort, and attitude, which leads to more accurate and fair selections. More importantly, it gives all participants significantly more game opportunity than they would normally get in January in a competitive but supportive environment. It gives them a chance to play with and against different players that they may not normally get to, as well as receive exposure to different coaching voices and experience a higher level of baseball than regular club games. It is designed to help every player improve, not just to select teams.
