Eagles Big Split With Top Team

WEST TORRENS split a thrilling double-header against ladder leaders Henley & Grange at Lockleys, boosting their push for a top-six finish in Division One.

Both games went down to the wire, with the Eagles claiming a dramatic 4–3 walk-off win in game one before narrowly falling 3–2 in the second.

Game one saw the Rams strike first through Wilson Lee’s first-inning home run, with the score remaining 1–0 until the fourth when doubles to Nico Vanderlinden and Austin Gallagher tied the contest. A fifth-inning homer from Nathan Vanderlinden followed by extra-base hits from Nico Vanderlinden and Jasper Clark gave West Torrens a 3–1 lead.

Henley refused to fade, levelling the scores in the top of the seventh through hits from Cam Tilly and Liam Bull. In the bottom half, walks and smart small ball set the stage for Clark’s walk-off single, sealing the win.

The second game was again tight, with Henley’s power proving decisive. Home runs from Tilly and Bull put the Rams ahead early, while West Torrens stayed in touch through Clark and James McFarlane. A late Jose Paula homer provided crucial insurance as Henley held on 3–2.
