How was your experience at Frank Phillips?

“It was a great experience playing baseball at Frank Phillips. I got to meet wonderful people and friends and played baseball at the high level, which I was looking for in juco baseball.”

How did you get noticed by LaSalle?

“I got noticed by La Salle through x. They found me in x and we started to talk.”

What are you most looking forward to in playing Division 1 baseball?

“I’m looking forward to playing against the best college baseball. I can’t wait to meet my teammates and build a good relationship with them.”

 

What most helped for your exposure to be seen by that school and what advice would you give to Australian players on what to do getting exposure from junior college to going to a 4-year school in America?

“I would say that posting my videos on x helped me the most to be seen by coaches. My advice is that being a good teammate is essential to play baseball at a higher level. Coaches would want players who can take care of small things and always work hard but are smart to carry the team to win. “

What does your normal college day look like as a student athlete?

“Did you receive a scholarship?”

 

Background:

Kosei Suzuki (鈴木 興聖) was born on June 16, 2004, in Saitama, he moved to Adelaide, South Australia as a youth, where he became involved in the local baseball scene. Standing about 5’8″, 170 lbs and batting/throwing right, Suzuki developed as a versatile infielder/outfielder. Suzuki is primarily an infielder who can play second base and shortstop, but he also sees time in the outfield. Suzuki emerged in senior South Australian baseball with local clubs. He played for Henley & Grange Baseball Club in the South Australian Division 1 league. He was noted for his power hitting. Suzuki also represented Adelaide in special events notably, he was in the starting lineup batting leadoff and playing shortstop for the Adelaide Giants team in a Japan–Australia friendly in November.

In 2024 Suzuki enrolled at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas and played for the Plainsmen in the National Junior College Athletic Association NJCAA Region 5. In his freshman spring season 2024, he hit .344 over 45 games, with 13 home runs, 55 RBIs, 38 runs and 54. He earned conference recognition for his bat, posting a league-leading .643 slugging and 1.050. As a sophomore in 2025 he continued at Frank Phillips, batting .295 with 7 HR and 34 RBIs in 39 games.  Mid-2025 he announced his commitment to play NCAA Division I baseball at La Salle University Philadelphia starting in 2026.

Statistics and Achievements, across his JUCO career he compiled a .322 average with 20 home runs and 89 RBIs in 84 games in the 2024–25 season. His 2024 line ranked among the NJCAA leaders, and he earned NJCAA Region 5 All-Region honors. He has been named to mid-season all-star teams and conference watch lists both in college and summer ball.
