Baseball SA is committed to supporting coaches at all levels and providing clear guidance on accreditation requirements. The information below addresses some of the most frequently asked questions relating to coaching accreditation, certificate submissions, compliance expectations, and important deadlines.
Whether you are completing accreditation for the first time or updating existing qualifications, these FAQs are designed to help you understand the requirements and ensure you are appropriately accredited for the 2026/27 season. Q: I sent my coaching certificates to Baseball SA years ago. Do I need to upload them now?
A: Yes. Baseball SA does not have coaching certificates on file, and Baseball Australia requires all certificates to be uploaded to the national database through Janison. Each coach must create their own Janison profile and upload their certificates.
Q: Can I send my certificates to Baseball SA to submit to Janison on my behalf?
A: No. Baseball SA cannot submit certifications on behalf of coaches. Each coach is required to create their own Janison profile and upload their certifications directly through the Janison platform.
Q: I am required to be a Level C coach. Can I do my Level C and skip Level A and B?
A: No. Coaches must complete accreditation levels in sequence. Level A must be completed before Level B, and both Level A and Level B must be completed before attempting Level C.
Q: I have previously completed all my USA Baseball Coaching Accreditation certificates. Do I need to do them again?
A: No. Valid USA Baseball Coaching Accreditation certificates do not need to be completed again.
If your certificates are not showing on your USA Baseball profile, you may need to accept an updated agreement within one of the Level A courses, as this must be done annually. Once completed, your other certificates should become accessible.
Coaches then need to:
Create a Janison profile.
Submit their certificates and any additional course requirements.
Pass the Baseball SA written assessments.
Q: Do I need to submit all the module certificates for the Community Coaching Essential Skills and Sport Integrity Australia courses?
A: No.
For the Community Coaching Essential Skills course, only the certificate showing completion of the entire course needs to be submitted. Please ensure you upload the final course completion certificate, not an individual module certificate.
For Sport Integrity Australia requirements, a certificate showing all completed courses may be submitted instead of individual module certificates for Level B and Level C components.
Q: Can I just complete the Baseball SA written assessments to become accredited?
A: No. Coaches must complete all accreditation requirements and upload the required completion certificates to their Janison profile for accreditation to be recognised.
Q: Are these accreditations necessary, or are they just recommendations?
A: These coaching accreditations are mandatory requirements of both Baseball Australia and Baseball South Australia. All coaches must be appropriately accredited this season.
These requirements have been in place for several years, and Baseball SA is now placing greater emphasis on education and compliance.
Q: What happens if coaches do not become accredited?
A: Baseball SA recognises that most coaches are volunteers and that accreditation takes time. Accordingly, coaches will be given some flexibility to achieve the required accreditations.
Key Deadlines
Before the start of the 2026/27 season on October 10: All coaches must have their Working With Children Check uploaded to and approved in Janison before the season begins.
By the end of October 2026: All coaches must complete the Community Coaching Essential Skills course and Sport Integrity Australia requirements.
By the end of 2026: All coaches must complete:
USA Baseball Level A certificate
USA Baseball Level B certificate
USA Baseball Level C certificate
Baseball SA written assessments
Non-Compliance
If these deadlines are not met:
Coaches will not be permitted to coach for the remainder of the 2026/27 season until accreditation requirements have been completed.
If a coach continues coaching after these deadlines despite being ineligible, Baseball SA may look at issuing sanctions to the club.
Q: Who will be monitoring coaching accreditations, and how will compliance be checked?
A: Baseball SA will monitor coaching accreditations through the information uploaded to Janison. Only accreditations submitted into Janison will be recognised.
Clubs must provide Baseball SA with a list of all head coaches and assistant coaches across all grades so compliance can be verified.
If clubs or coaches are found to be withholding information or failing to identify coaches, Baseball SA may look at issuing sanctions to the club.
