Term 3 Performance Pathways Programs

Baseball South Australia is pleased to announce the launch of its Term 3 Performance Pathways Programs, providing athletes with structured, high-quality development opportunities across all stages of the performance pathway.

Commencing from 20 July, these programs run across a nine-week development phase and align with both State and National high-performance standards, offering athletes a clear pathway toward representative baseball and long-term athletic development.


Under 16 & Under 18 Performance Programs

The Under 16 and Under 18 Performance Programs represent the highest level of offseason development within the Baseball SA pathway system. Designed to mirror the former Elite Program model, these programs function as an extended State Squad environment, preparing athletes for future state and national representation.

Program Dates

Under 18 Program

  • Starts: Monday, 20 July

  • Birth Years: 2009 & 2010

Under 16 Program

  • Starts: Tuesday, 21 July

  • Birth Years: 2011 & 2012

Both Programs Finish

  • Saturday, 19 September

Weekly Schedule

Under 18

Monday, Wednesday & Friday

  • Baseball Training: 5:00pm – 7:00pm

  • Strength & Conditioning: 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Under 16

Tuesday & Thursday

  • Baseball Training: 5:00pm – 7:00pm

  • Strength & Conditioning: 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Saturday

  • Baseball Training: 10:00am – 12:00pm

Live Game & State Team Selection Phase

The final stage of both programs will feature live game play and evaluation opportunities on:

  • Saturday, 5 September

  • Saturday, 12 September

  • Saturday, 19 September

These sessions will form the official selection phase for the:

  • Under 16 State Team

  • Under 18 State Team

Additional Trial Opportunities

Athletes not selected into the Performance Programs will still have an opportunity to enter the state pathway.

Eligible athletes born between 2009–2012 may be invited to participate during the live game phase, ensuring continued access to state team selection opportunities.

Selection Criteria

Selection into the Performance Programs is by invitation and assessment based on:

  • Baseball Australia identification

  • State identification

  • Performance in Baseball SA Term 2 programs


Women's Program Phase 2: Skill Development

The Women's Program enters its second phase, focusing on skill application, game readiness and performance development.

  • 6:00pm – 8:30pm

Sunday

  • 9:00am – 11:30am

July: 24, 26, 30

August : 2, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30

September : 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20

Final Session : Sunday, 20 September

Eligibility

Open to athletes born in 2014 and older.

The primary target group for the Australian Youth Women's Championships includes athletes born in:

  • 2011

  • 2012

  • 2013

Athletes born in 2014 will participate in an introductory development phase before becoming eligible for state representation.

Development Focus

Athletes will work on:

  • Skill acquisition and refinement

  • Strength and conditioning integration

  • Game application and decision-making

The program is designed to prepare athletes for:

  • Australian Youth Women's Championships

  • Australian Open Women's Championships


Emerging Program

The Emerging Program is designed for athletes born in 2013, 2014 and 2015, providing an introduction to structured development and competitive baseball.

Program Structure

  • One training session per week (90 minutes)

  • One Saturday game per week (90 minutes)

Training Times

  • Monday, Wednesday or Thursday (group dependent)

  • 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Saturday Games

  • 1:00pm – 2:30pm or

  • 3:00pm – 4:30pm

Selection Process

Entry is via trial and based on:

  • Performance testing

  • Previous Baseball SA program involvement

  • Club and representative performance

Places are limited and selection is competitive.


Prospects Development Program

The Prospects Development Program supports athletes progressing toward competitive baseball opportunities and summer season preparation.

Program Schedule

Sunday

  • 12:00pm – 1:30pm

Tuesday

  • 7:00pm – 8:30pm

Program Focus

  • Skill refinement

  • Bridging participation to performance

  • Supporting athletes not selected for Performance Programs


College Pathways Program

The College Pathways Program is designed for athletes aspiring to pursue baseball opportunities within the United States college system.

Running alongside the Under 16 and Under 18 Performance Programs, participants will receive development aligned to U.S. recruitment and collegiate expectations.


Strength & Conditioning Program

Baseball SA continues its partnership with Jason Delfos and The Studio at West Beach to deliver specialised strength and conditioning support.

Individualised Programming

Each athlete receives a customised program based on:

  • Physical development needs

  • Training history

  • Individual performance goals

Mandatory Participation

Strength and conditioning participation is mandatory for athletes selected into:

  • Under 16 Performance Program

  • Under 18 Performance Program

  • College Pathways Program

  • Women's Program – Phase 2


Strength & Conditioning Information Session

A dedicated information session will be provided for athletes and parents.

Location: The Studio, West Beach
Time: 6:00pm
Format: In-person or virtual

Topics Include

  • Strength and conditioning expectations

  • Integration with baseball performance

  • Long-term athlete development

  • Injury prevention strategies

Training Locations

Programs will primarily operate from:

  • Baseball SA Diamond Sports facilities

  • West Beach sporting precincts

  • The Studio, West Beach

Specific venue information will be provided following program selection and group allocation.


Athlete Requirements & Expectations

Attendance

Due to the high-performance nature of these programs, consistent attendance is expected

  • Absences should be communicated in advance 

  • Attendance may impact selection and progression

Equipment

Athletes are required to provide: 

  • Glove 

  • Bat 

  • Helmet 

  • Training apparel 

  • Cleats for on field work 

  • Running shoes/turfs for gym and Indoor Training Facility 

Any additional program apparel will be confirmed post-selection. 

Communication

All program communication will be delivered via official Baseball SA channels (email or team platform). 

Health & Safety

Athletes participate under standard Baseball SA insurance coverage

  • As of July 1, 2026, All athletes must be registered for the 2026/2027 season.  

  • Athletes who are not registered may not participate in any Performance Pathways Programs as they would not be covered by insurance.  

  • Any athlete what was registered with Baseball SA for the 2025/26 season is not insured as of July 1, 2026.  

  • Injuries or conditions must be disclosed prior to participation 

  • Programs are designed with injury prevention in mind 


Weather & Scheduling

Training sessions may be adjusted or rescheduled due to weather conditions. Any changes will be communicated through official Baseball SA channels.

If no communication is received, sessions will proceed as scheduled.

  • Emerging Program trials
