Baseball South Australia is proud to announce the dates and program format for the Under 16 and Under 18 South Australian Showcase in October 2023.

Those born between January 1st 2006 to 31st December 2007 are U18s eligible | Those born in January 1st 2008 to 31st December 2009 are U16s eligible

The Showcase will take place from October 3rd, 4th and 5th. The first day will consist of testing in the morning and batting practice on field in the afternoon. The following two days will be formatted to morning trainings and afternoon games.

Athletes will be separated into the U16 squad and the U18 squad with appropriate age groups playing games against each other.

The 2023 South Australian Showcase Series will include:

1.            Players to be put through multiple tests and trainings that Baseball SA and the State coaches will collect data from. This data will then be used to cross reference all players from across Australia for their age appropriate groups as well as help select the South Australian State Teams. Testing will consist of the following:

o             Maximum throwing velocity

o             Maximum exit velocity during batting practice

o             60-yard dash

o             Strength and mobility tests, etc.

2.            Games for both the U16’s and U18’s squads will be played daily with athletes being split into two groups. U16’s will ALWAYS play U16’s and vice versa.

3.            The Showcase will form the basis of the trial for selecting the U16/U18 State team to represent South Australia at the Australian Youth Championships. Coaching staff for the U16 and U18 State Teams will attend the Showcase evaluating and selecting the players to make their respective state teams.

4.            In order to be in contention for South Australian State Teams, Australian National Squads, and World Cup Teams, players MUST attend the SA Showcase. If there are extenuating circumstances and you cannot make the SA Showcase, you will need to inform Baseball SA Performance Pathways Manager Austin Gallagher as early as you can.

5.            Training/Game top and Showcase hat will be provided for each athlete.

You MUST register to attend the South Australian Showcase. As this is the trial for the U16 and U18 State Teams to represent at the Australian Youth Championships, all players must be in shape and ready to throw, hit, field, and run to the best of their abilities.
