COVID-19 UPDATE: 16 November 2020

To our valued community,

As you would all most likely be aware, overnight the SA public learned of a new COVID outbreak that has occurred in the Northern suburbs. This outbreak is currently under investigation and management from SA Health officials and regular updates are being provided on the SA Health website and SA Health Facebook page. Baseball SA are taking this outbreak very seriously and have had numerous meetings this morning to ascertain the potential risk to our community. At this stage we have no confirmed links to the outbreak, however we are aware that certain members of our community are being tested for the virus as a precaution only. We understand that members of our community live, work and play in and around the affected area, therefore making it important for ALL members, families and friends to be vigilant with good hygiene practices and get tested if you are displaying any of the COVID-19 symptoms.

This is a timely reminder for us to not be complacent, we all have a role to play in ensuring as a community we work together to combat this outbreak and prevent a second wave of COVID-19 in South Australia. We must all remember to:

  • Wash our hands regularly for 20-seconds
  • Continue to socially distance ourselves from others (1.5m)
  • Use hand sanitiser when entering and leaving shops, restaurants, clubs and cafes (as provided by most venues)
  • Wash sporting equipment regularly, limit the sharing of equipment
  • Adhere to all government regulations and restrictions in place
  • Stay informed of changes in regulations and restrictions
  • Use own drink bottles
  • Do not share food or platters
  • Get tested even if mild symptoms are present

In relation to any events you may be preparing for at your club or for your club, please start to consider what restrictions you may need to have in place or what restrictions government may enforce given the current circumstances. To plan ahead with a number of options will allow a smooth transition for your club in being able to continue with the event and prevent cancellation altogether. If you have any concerns regarding what you are and are not allowed to do at this stage, please refer to the SA Health website and the latest updates below:

The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing will be updating the sporting sector todat on a webinar at 4:30pm today, following which I will be able to update the baseball community more with the current cases, potential changes to restrictions and any other sport specific information surrounding the outbreak. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions.

Stay safe, remain vigilant and together we will stop the spread of COVID.

Regards,

Sarah Kelly
