Lifeblood | Round 16

Published Tue 26 Dec 2023

Baseball SA is excited to announce its partnership with Australian Red Cross Lifeblood for the upcoming State League Round 16, taking place from February 9th to 11th 2024.

Have you ever wondered what blood donations are used for? Liv from Golden Grove Central Districts has an immune deficiency and relies on plasma donations to keep her going and get her on the field each week.

Nobody knows the value of blood donations better than the countless people in Australia who rely on them. In fact, 1 in 3 will need donated blood in their lifetime. That’s a lot of us here at Baseball SA.

During State League Round 16, Baseball SA encourages clubs to participate in any way that is practical for them. To raise awareness for blood and plasma donation, teams are invited to wear red socks for blood donation awareness or yellow socks for plasma donation awareness. Your club will let you know which colour you will be wearing.

Throughout the month of February (February 9th to March 10th), Baseball SA and participating clubs are urging members and supporters to visit local donation centres to contribute to the club totals for blood and plasma donations. Clubs that do not have a donation team set up have been sent instructions on how to setup a team.

Whether you’ve been giving blood for decades or you’ve just started thinking about it, it’s the perfect time to join our Lifeblood Team. The supportive group makes donating easier (and more fun!). You can donate together with the team or on your own — it all counts towards our team’s blood drive goal and helps our community. To make your donation count (and for a bit of friendly competition between the clubs), join your baseball club’s Lifeblood Team and donate during the blood drive.

If you’re interested in getting involved, here are the steps:

  1. Check your eligibility: check eligibility
  2. Register and create a profile here: Donate as a group | Lifeblood
  3. In your preferences, add your club as a team
  4. Book in your donation time slot

Together we can make a real impact — and save even more lives. Every drop counts. Can we count you in?

Baseball SA extends its appreciation to all participating clubs for supporting this cause. Together, we aim to make a significant impact on blood and plasma donation during February.

If you would like more information on how to get involved please reach out to Molly (molly.brown@baseballsa.org.au).
